Twister, 2013

Twister is a rotating pop up mounted on a Plexiglas frame. As it is opened and closed, the center pop up rotates in a circle. The entire piece was cut from one 18" X 18" panel of collaged and free motion stitched fabrics.

Bonsai II, 2020
cotton, cork cloth, Alpaca felting, wire armature 14" X 14" X 15"
Bonsai II is a representation of the Bonsai art form in fabrics. The tree is free motion stitched bark and over 800 leaves, all inidividually wired to allow shaping into the binsai form. The base is Alpaca felted batt and the container is made of panels of cotton fused to heavy interface. The entire form can be twisted and bent into several of the classic bonsai forms, spire, informal spire (shown here), windswept or semi-cascade.

Reef Forms is inspired by the glass work collages of Dale Chihuly. This collage is form of three vessels made of fabric fused to heavy interface, free motion stitched and hand beaded.

Flower Box, 2014

Flower Box is a folding pop up that closes into a 12" X 16" X 12" cube. It unfolds into a 33" X 44" display of a garden of pop up flowers.

Monarch is an abstraction of the butterfly. Each panel is made of 2 layers of organza and all detail is free motion stitching of black cotton thread. It is mounted on a found Cottonwood snag.

Protea is a free standing vessel made of progressive panels of organza and cotton collages fused to heavy interface. The form is inspired by a protea blossom.

Shards is a free standing vessel made of cotton fused to heavy interface panels, the surface is quilted and free motion stitched. I consider this a self portrait because I share many of the same qual;ities - we are both short, oddly shaped and very colorful.
