  • A Conversation about Aotearoa New Zealand’s history and culture: Victoria Bell, Senior Lecturer in Textiles, Dunedin School of Art at Otago Polytechnic
  • The Story behind SDA’s Aotearoa New Zealand Journal Issue: Elizabeth Kozlowski, SDA Journal Editor & Lauren Sinner, Journal Managing Editor. Catch a glimpse of Kozlowski’s travels to New Zealand for research and teaching as well as Sinner’s two artist residencies. Both provide a rich backdrop to content in SDA’s current Journal, Aotearoa New Zealand 
  • Meet the Artist Session 1: Donna Campbell & others


DAY 2: March 11, 3- 5 pm ET (US)

  • Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum– Exhibition Tour: See the museum’s new exhibition, Tāmaki Herenga Waka – Stories of Auckland, featuring commissioned work by New Zealand artists as well as works in the collection, led by curator Project Curators Jane Groufsky and Dr Andrea Low. Tāmaki is one of the Māori language names for Auckland. This new, long-term exhibition shares the diverse stories of the people and place that is Tāmaki. Tāmaki Herenga Waka is organized thematically. This approach allows multiple narratives and voices to connect time and place and reflects the complex narratives and many communities of Auckland.
  • Dreaming of the Future, SDA regional New Zealand member exhibition: Located at from out of the blue studio gallery in Opunake, NZ. Join Viv Davy, Curator & New Zealand SDA Area Representative, on this exhibition tour plus group discussion with several participating artists as they discuss the national fiber arts scene. Participating artists include Jenny Bielawski, Donna Campbell, Isla Fabu, Christine Keller, Susan Kostanich, Stella Lange, Pam McKinlay, Bernice Mitchell, Birgit Moffatt, and Jeanette Verster.
  • Meet the Artist Session 2: Christine Keller, Dunedin’s Loom Room & others

$25 for SDA members; $35 for non-members

Preregistration is required. If you can’t make those times or you’d like to revisit the presentations, the event will be recorded and privately available to all ticketed passengers on the day following each Webinar.
