Regional reps must use the form to submit a request for the creation of an event or exhibits page. If you feel like you don’t have enough room in the form, please send a document to websitemanager@surfacedesign.org in addition to filling out the form.

A summary of the event goes here. What type of event is it? Who’s speaking? What’s the exhibit about? Are there any sponsors that need to be mentioned?  This section doesn’t have to be long, but it should be descriptive enough for people who don’t want to read the whole page. You can include an image for this area, but it’s optional.  The amount of text in this area will influence how the image is incorporated. Use the navigation menu below for information on organizing additional content and required images.

Content

Please consider how your information can be broken up into chunks that are easy to skim without having to read the entire page. People should be able to quickly find the information that interests them without having to work too hard to find it. If the event is complicated, or has a lot of information, we will use a navigation menu like the one above so visitors can access relevant information.

The navigation menu doesn’t always exist on a page, only when it is necessary. But looking at it is a good way to conceptualize how to break up information.

This is the image at the very top of the page. It has specific requirements because the image will automatically scale and crop according to the size of the screen. Many visitors use their phones to view the site, especially for events. It is easier if you send a high resolution image of artwork.

  • Content of image must be at least 1680 px x 400 px
  • Maximum file size of 1 MB
  • No text overlays – text may be cut off depending on browser size
  • No people – similar to text, faces may not be visible. Closeups of hands working are ok.
  • No composite images

Landing Page “Tile” Image

This is the image that is used on the events landing page. The exhibits landing page has examples. As with the banner image, we can create a tile image using provided artwork.

  • This image must square
  • 400 x 400
  • No composite images
  • Example of tile made from larger image is below. View it “in action” on the Online Exhibitions landing page.

Other Images

If you have other images (up to 3) you’d like to include, please explain how you’d like to see them used. If you send multiple images without instructions, they will be randomly chosen.
