Shibori for Quilts and Piecing
Students will explore three techniques to create modular pieces and lengths of silk and cellulose: Arashi pole wrapping; Katano sewing machine resist, where the stitching acts like a clamp; and Itajime folding and clamping with blocks. Students will use fiber reactive indigo dye thickened and in immersion to resist scour silk organza to create areas of stiff and lustrous patterns. The class is taught by artist Ana Lisa Hedstrom.
Class meets 9am to 4pm Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, to Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, and coincides with the Oct. 29, 2022, opening of Quilts=Art=Quilts 2022 exhibition.
Cost is $450 for Schweinfurth members, $460 for nonmembers
